This is an independent, evidence-based research paper produced by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) for Acas.
It explores how gender identity is managed in UK workplaces and how inclusion of trans or intersex employees could be improved, reviewing legislation (the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010), HR functions and other issues raised by the research.
The views in this research paper are the author's own and do not necessarily reflect those of Acas or the Acas Council. Any errors or inaccuracies are the responsibility of the author alone.
