Acas contributes to new report to help improve Britain’s productivity

The Carnegie Trust and the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) have launched a new report today to help improve Britain’s productivity.

The report – Can Good Work Solve the Productivity Puzzle? – features some of the UK’s top thinkers in the field of workplace relations and includes an article from Acas’s Gill Dix, Head of Workplace Policy.
Gill Dix said:

"Acas is delighted to be included in this important piece of work which includes contributions from the Bank of England, TUC, CBI and other thought leaders in the field.

"The gig economy, productivity, concerns over job security and wellbeing at work are all high-profile workplace issues at the moment that are covered in this collection of essays. Thanks to the Carnegie and RSA for bringing contributions together."

The key points made by Acas include:

  • getting the right employment contract to take account of changes in the world of work
  • how people’s voices are heard at work, particularly with the gig economy and remote workers
  • how to engage employees, and build an employment relationship that helps protect wellbeing and workplace productivity
