Mental health in the workplace − skills for managers

Mental health, like physical health, can change throughout our lives. Individuals, teams and businesses can all benefit from being able to talk openly about mental health.

Managers who are skilled at supporting mental health in the workplace can:

This training will provide attendees with skills and knowledge to address issues. It will help build confidence to have effective conversations about mental health, creating an open and inclusive culture.

The course is led by a trainer and delivered online via Zoom.

This course is advanced level.

Attendees will get an in-depth understanding of the topic and practise skills they can use to support their organisation. This training is aimed at people with good knowledge or experience in the topic.

This training covers:

  • an overview of the business case for supporting mental health at work
  • what mental health is, including stress, anxiety and depression
  • the causes of mental ill health
  • an introduction to common mental health conditions
  • developing skills for handling conversations around mental health and wellbeing
  • an introduction to the Acas framework for positive mental health

  • recognise the benefits of supporting mental health at work
  • define mental health
  • discuss common mental health conditions and their symptoms
  • demonstrate skills for managing mental health at work
  • apply the Acas framework for positive mental health in their job
