M: There are differences in the way that you both work and the there are differences in the way that you like to communicate and we've looked at some of those differences and looked at ways that we can perhaps help things to work better hopefully in the future. I think it will be surprising for both of you to know though, that in the individual meetings that I had with you both, you both had some very positive things to say about the other person in terms of the qualities that you feel that you actually bring to the positions. I wonder if it might be a useful time to explore that and you know, and to feed that back to each other. Maybe, I could ask if Paul you might like to explain to Kirsty the strengths that you feel that Kirsty brings to the job?
P: Yeah well, like I said earlier, it's umm... Kirsty does have a very good relationship with the clients that come into the office. She is great at doing that, she does have a real knack for dealing with the public and I don't. It's a really good, a really good point that she has.
M: What about you Kirsty, would you like to tell Paul how you see his role, the strengths that he has.
K: You know it's becoming clear to me that, you know, we're just treading on each others' toes. You know, and that actually we just have very very different skills here and umm,,, you know, Paul's organisational skills you can't fault them, you know, you absolutely can't fault them. You know, maybe I just need to be a bit more respectful to you that your trying to keep, you know, the agenda and you're trying to keep the timetable working and flowing,
M: Well, hopefully some of the things that we've put in place in the earlier session today will do that. You know, sort of recognises the difference in the way that the two of you like to work in terms of communicating. I mean the impression that I have is that Paul likes to be more sort of reflective and be able to consider things in writing and whereas you prefer to me be more spontaneous and actually discuss things. And hopefully the steps that we've put in will enable you both to be able to work better together and use the strengths that you both have to take forward the areas of business that you're in. Hmm?
P: Yeah, I think you're right. I think that there has to be a middle ground that we can meet in where I can use my skills and Kirsty can use hers as well.
