Meet the Acas Wales team

Gareth Petty Acas Gareth Petty - Director

Cardiff born Gareth Petty has been Director for Acas in Wales since 2006. He has extensive knowledge and experience of employment relations, particularly in the area of dispute resolution.

Gareth has worked throughout Wales for Acas and has also worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Romania and Bulgaria. He sits on several advisory panels, including the Welsh Government Heads of Government Offices and CBI Wales Enterprise Forum.

He has three children, Hywel, Alys and Tomos who he enjoys holidaying with and following the Wales rugby team, he is also Chairman of Cowbridge Youth rugby. In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit and has completed the New York and London marathons as well as the Barcelona, London and Cardiff triathlons in recent years - raising over £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Trudy Davies Acas Trudy Davies - Deputy Area Director, Senior Business Development Manager and Senior Helpline Manager

Trudy joined Acas in 2009 having previously held a variety of management roles for large blue chip companies heading up projects that have transformed the way organisations manage change to improve Customer Service, Employee Engagement, Recognition and Reward.

In joining Acas Trudy has gained experience within the three key areas of the organisation, that being, Conciliation, Helpline and Training services. Along side this experience, Trudy project managed Acas' biggest change in its 40 year history - that being the evolution of Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal notification process. 

Trudy's remit is to improve stakeholders understanding of all Acas service offerings to help improve organisations and working life across Wales through better employment relations, whether that's through averting large scale industrial action, helping parties resolve individual disputes before reaching an employment tribunal, or through providing training and business solutions to Welsh organisations.

In addition to a Further Education Teaching qualification, Trudy holds the Prince2 Project Management qualification and is an Associate member of CIPD having undertaken CIPD qualifications.

Gill Mason Acas Gillian Mason - Senior Advisor

Gill joined Acas in 1989 and has been a Senior Advisor since 2012 covering South West Wales (from Bridgend to Aberystwyth).

Since being with Acas, Gill has covered a wide variety of roles, including ten years of resolving employment tribunal claims and over twenty five years of delivering Acas training. Gill has extensive experience of dealing with a range of organisations from micro-businesses to multi-national companies.

Gill holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Individual Dispute Resolution which is particularly useful in terms of training workplace mediators on the Acas accredited mediation course.

James Forse Acas James Forse - Senior Advisor & Collective Conciliator

Having worked for Acas for over 20 years James has an in-depth knowledge of employment relations issues, good practice and expertise in finding practical, workable solutions to the issues you face.

In addition to many years of direct management experience James has worked as an Individual Conciliator and Collective Conciliator settling individual and collective disputes. James also advises employers, Trade Unions and the legal profession on employment matters. This experience is invaluable in giving an understanding of the pressures arising from employment disputes and issues and in resolving them.

James also draws on his knowledge and experience to delivery high quality training through both open access events and bespoke in-company events. Training can be designed to meet your needs and uses both James' personal experience and over 40 years of Acas' position as the employment relations experts to ensure that the solution is right for you. James is a member of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning and has worked with a range of public and private sector organisations.

James is based in the Acas Cardiff office for the last 5 years and covers Cardiff and South East Wales as a Senior Advisor and Collective Conciliator. James also manages a team of Individual Conciliators responsible for both Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal cases.

Lorna Wilson Acas Lorna Wilson - Senior Advisor

Lorna has worked at Acas for over 25 years and starting as a Conciliation Officer before moving on to manage the Helpline and Conciliation team. Lorna has been in her current role as Senior Advisor for over 10 years and now works part-time covering South East Wales.

Lorna has extensive experience of dealing with a range of organisations from micro-businesses to multi-national companies.

David Jones Acas David Jones - Senior Advisor

David became the senior practitioner and adviser for Acas in North Wales in 2007 having previously held roles as a Conciliator, Mediator and Trainer.

David has over 15 years experience in employment relations, working with multinational companies, SME's, Public Sector, Voluntary Organisations and Trade Unions. He has extensive experience across a wide portfolio of Acas services such as training, conflict management, mediation, consultancy and advice.

David has an Employment Relations & Law Masters Degree and is a CIPD member.

Jennifer Williams Acas Jennifer Williams - Equality & Diversity Advisor and Trainer

Jen has over 20 year's experience of advising and training, covering a wide range of human resource management and Equality and Diversity matters. Jen has worked with both public and private sector organisations to introduce policy change including discipline and grievance, absence management, communication systems, bullying and harassment, recruitment, supervision, mental health and managing stress.

As an Equality & Diversity advisor, Jen can help organisations with any issues from the equality legislation to the more sensitive issues around Equality and Diversity - she has a vast experience in this area and enjoys working with companies to enable a change of culture, ensuring a healthy workplace.

Jen is a qualified trainer and is CIPD qualified.

Stuart Plage Acas Stuart Plage - Conciliation Officer & Trainer

Based in North Wales, Stuart has worked for Acas for the past 8 years as a Conciliation Officer resolving Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal claims as well as delivering training in all aspects of human resource management and good practice.

Stuart holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Individual Dispute Resolution from Greenwich University and prior to working for Acas, delivered training for the DWP and NHS as well as a number of HR and line manager functions. 

In his spare time, Stuart enjoys football and describes himself as an 'avid Evertonian'.

Darren Mackey Acas Darren Mackey - Publicity & Conciliation Manager

After gaining a background in customer service and sales, Darren joined Acas in 2012 as a Helpline Advisor providing advice and guidance around all aspects of employment law, HR management and good practice - following a brief stint as acting Helpline Manager, he joined the Conciliation team in 2013.

As a Conciliation Officer, Darren resolved Early Conciliation & Employment Tribunal Claims both in English and Welsh and was also trained to conduct mediations and deliver training. Darren is a member of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning and has worked with a range of public and private sector organisations.

Darren took on the role of Regional Publicity Manager in early 2016 and as well as planning and co-ordinating Acas events and training in Wales he's responsible for spreading the word about Acas through our social media channels, newsletters and at various events.

 

In March 2017, Darren took over the management of a new team of Conciliation Officers responsible for both Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal cases.
