Acas supports Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is today, the annual celebration of local, independent and family-run firms across the country.

Now in its third year the event continues to blossom, with 16.5 million people shopping in small independent businesses on the day in 2014 - a 20 per cent increase in footfall on 2013 or an extra 2.7 million shoppers.

Acas supports small businesses

As organisations rally behind small businesses, Acas has been outlining the many ways that it provides support and Help for small firms.

First off are the free and easy-to-use step-by-step guides Acas offers for free download, on some of the most common workplace issues facing small employers.

They cover the essential areas, from managing absence and dealing with complaints to handling difficult conversations about performance or redundancy.

The guides and other Acas resources help new and small employers get to grips with the fundamentals of employing people, helping them get the best out of their staff - and stay on the right side of the law.

Acas is also a mine of information on a huge variety of employment relations matters, relevant to all employers whatever the size of their company.
