TUPE changes 2014
On 31 January 2014, the new regulations on TUPE came into effect updating the 2006 regulations. Acas has produced this leaflet to help employers better understand what the changes mean and how they may affect their business.
TUPE means the "Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations". They apply to organisations of all sizes and protect employees' rights when the business they work for transfers to a new employer.
The TUPE Regulations apply when businesses are merged, sold or bought. They also apply in outsourcing situations like when a contract is put out to tender or when work is brought back in house.
